psychotherapist

I am a registered psychotherapist working with people 18+ who are experiencing a specific challenge, trauma, or a feeling that they want more from their life.“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”
C.S. LEWIS
Therapy can offer a different kind of space: slower than the busy world outside, with room to notice what is usually overlooked, with someone who listens. It is ultimately an invitation to know oneself more deeply, to meet oneself with greater acceptance, and to discover more freedom to live a life that feels authentically one's own.People come to therapy for many different reasons. My role is to accompany you with curiosity and care to gain better understanding of what is troubling you, and to uncover your natural capacity for transformation.

How we begin therapy

Beginning is courageous, and it is important to choose a therapist that you truly feel comfortable with. Reach out, and we'll go from there. Therapy is not something that can be applied in quite the same way to one person as another. It is collaborative, and takes shape between us.I work in-person in Grey Lynn and online on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.Cost: $160 per 50-minute session.

A psychodynamic approach to therapy acknowledges the way in which the past can remain present in us. Experiences, beliefs and fears can become deeply woven into how we understand ourselves and the world, sometimes in ways that restrict us, and often without our knowing it. Together, we can explore this kindly and creatively. Importantly, we can begin to consider what might become possible when what has been unconscious can be more fully known."Who looks outside, dreams; Who looks inside, awakes."
CARL JUNG
My practice is shaped by my creative background and interest in the relationship between mind and body. I believe that we do not come to know ourselves through thought alone. Sometimes something can be understood through feeling, sensation, imagination or artistic expression before it can be understood in words.

We might work on

  • Anxiety

  • Self-esteem + identity

  • ADHD symptoms (motivation, focus, task initiation, communication)

  • Finding meaning, purpose + creativity

  • Depression

  • Relationship issues

  • Other general challenges of being a human - talk to me about what you're struggling with

Why take an integrated approach to therapy?

I work in an integrated way because I believe a holistic approach enables greater self awareness. If being an artist, or spiritual awareness, is important to you I am very happy to work in a way that honours this aspect of your life. I believe self-expression is a way of coming closer to what is true for each of us, and achieving creative potential.
